Our Philosophy
At Brexton Family Financial we bring centuries old principles to our investment philosophy. Our approach is guided by Ecclesiastes 11:2: “Divide your portion amongst seven or eight, for you don’t know what disaster may happen upon the earth.” These words were penned by King Solomon, considered the wisest man to have ever lived. The concept of diversification is nothing new and has been around for over 3,000 years! The proliferation of stocks is less than 150 years old, but land, real estate, and other tangible assets have been around and used to create wealth for centuries. At Brexton Family Financial, we believe that both types of assets—stocks and tangible securities—belong in client portfolios to provide true diversification.
Our Approach
We don’t take a cookie-cutter approach to designing client portfolios. Rather, we specialize in designing portfolios that are unique to the preferences and needs of each client and family. This takes more time, but our families are worth it.
We bring more than twenty years of investment experience to the table in both market-based securities (such as stocks and bonds) as well as alternative assets. A blend of both investment options best achieves the diversification we believe clients need, but how much of each is unique to every client and their specific situation. For instance, tangible investments often provide substantial distributions—especially compared to stocks and bonds—and can be very advantageous for retirees or anyone wanting to generate income off their portfolio.
In addition, most institutional investors—like university endowments and pension plans—deploy the vast majority of their monies into alternative asset classes. And yet many individual investors believe that real estate, private equities, and other types of alternative assets require millions of dollars to access and are thus out of their reach. At Brexton Family Financial, we bring these institutional-class investment opportunities and make them available to individual investors and families.
Our Focus
We are preservation-minded and focus on principal protection. We believe that return of your principal must be safeguarded before we worry about return on your principal. Before we approve and participate in any investment, we want to have a high degree of confidence that even if things go poorly there is still a strong likelihood that the principal will be preserved and returned. We can’t guarantee there will never be a loss, but we do pay strict attention to preventing this, if possible. This is not to say that we aren’t concerned with growing your money, but we won’t be smitten with shiny returns based on speculative investments.
